Lompoc City firafighters investigating black smoke discovered a woman giving birth prematurely yesterday morning. It happened at around 11:45. Firefighters came up with a plan to get two parents and a new born baby out of the Santa Ynez Riverbed. Once they were safe, all three were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Mother and baby were last reported to be in stable condition. A second rescue involved the Santa Barbara County Swift Water Rescue team, who rescued a person and a dog from the riverbed. Two other people said they did not want to be rescued.
