Feds Tell Santa Maria To Repeal H-2A Ordinance

The city of Santa Maria is being told to repeal its H-2A housing ordinance or face a 400,000 dollar fine. According to KSBY, federal housing officials say the ordinance regarding temporary agriculture workers could be considered discriminatory against their workers, who are in a federally protected class because of national origin. City officials believe the federal government is “overreaching” and will revisit the issue next week.
