The preliminary hearing of the man accused of gunning down an active-duty Army soldier continued yesterday. A Lompoc Police detective testified about the gun allegedly used by 27-year-old Walter Morales to shoot Marlon Brumfield in September 2019. Morales allegedly fled to Mexico after Brumfield’s death and was arrested nearly a year later in Santa Maria. The hearing is scheduled to continue next month.
