A new study conducted by MIT and Stanford suggests keeping The Diablo Canyon Nuclear power Plant running could help California with its power needs. The report points out that Diablo Canyon currently provides 8 percent of California’s in-state electricity production and 15 percent of its carbon-free electricity. According to the Tribune, local experts and stakeholders don’t agree, saying an abrupt 180 this late in the game is nearly impossible.
