The Santa Barbara County D.A.’s office has joined a local non-profit group in a new “neighborhood restorative justice” program. According to KEYT, the program addresses non-violent crimes and offenders with community-based solutions outside of the traditional criminal justice system. Officials say it gives offenders a chance to take responsibility for their actions and make amends directly to those they have harmed and eventually rejoin the community.
