It’s back to school for students at Santa Maria and Pioneer Valley High Schools. It’s also back to school for a couple of resource officers with the Santa Maria Police Department. According to the Santa Maria Times, the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District cut the program in 2021 due to the pandemic and a staffing shortage. Officials say the resource officers will be on campus Monday through Friday during school hours.
