A Sales Tax Increase Would Raise Funds For Roads

An increase in San Luis Obispo County sales tax would help fund county road repairs. That’s the word from SLOCOG, the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments. The Council is looking into a half-percent sale tax increase to help offset a projected 2.3 billion dollar shortfall over the two decades. According to the Tribune, the increased tax could raise 35 million dollars a year for various road projects. The county says this proposed sales tax will not impact groceries, medical expenses or housing.
