An hours-long standoff in Orcutt had a fatal ending Saturday night. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a family dispute at about 5:30. Authorities say family members were able to escape the Blake Street home when the suspect brandished a firearm during an argument. Negotiators tried to de-escalate and stabilize the situation for the next several hours. Just after 9:30, deputies encountered the man in the backyard, leading to the fatal shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
