The Santa Maria Public Airport District Board has asked one of their own to step down following a fatal forklift crash. Last month, David Baskett was driving a heavy-duty forklift when a pickup truck struck the forklift prongs, killing 39-year-old Tiffany Peterson. Baskett was dropped off the Santa Maria Public Airport District’s insurance policy. An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing. The results will be turned over to the Santa Barbara County D.A.’s Office.
