If you’re planning to go boating at Lopez Lake on Father’s Day Weekend, you’ll be greeted by a boat inspection and mussel dogs. The dogs are specially trained to detect Quagga or Zebra mussels. The mussels are invasive and can clog the lake’s infrastructure. Park Rangers suggest washing your boat thoroughly and inspect all exposed surfaces. If Zebra mussels are detected, you won’t be allowed to launch your boat.
