21-Year-Old Holds Law Enforcement At Bay

A 21-year-old man was arrested over the weekend following a 24-hour-long standoff at a Central Coast winery with Sheriff’s deputies. It began at around 6:15 Friday evening at Sunstone Winery in the Santa Ynez Valley. According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Fredrick Rice barricaded himself in a room with a sword, vandalizing property. A Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team was able to convince Rice to surrender just before 7 p.m. Saturday. His bail is set at 50,000 dollars.
