A Santa Maria man was arrested over the weekend following a standoff with police. Police say the 45-year-old had been causing disturbances on West Boone Street for two days before he attempted and assault on Sunday. He allegedly threatened officers with a large knife in the parking lot of his apartment complex before retreating inside his residence. After several hours of de-escalation tactics, officers convinced the man to surrender without further incident.
