The man accused of stabbing his mother to death last October is now facing an allegation of “special circumstances” in his murder trial. According to KSBY The special circumstance would allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty if Levente Lazar is convicted. Prosecutors believe money was the motive behind 64-year-old Athena Valentiny’s murder. Her body was discovered by Grover Beach Police during a welfare check of her home on South 9th Street on October 25th. Lazar would be arrested in Indiana days later.
