Yesterday marked the beginning of a new school year for a couple of Santa Barbara County school districts. Both the Santa Maria-Bonita School District and Santa Maria Joint Unified High School District welcomed students back for in-person learning. According to KSBY, Santa Maria Bonita School District reported an increase in kindergartners for the first time in two years. Masks are required inside the classroom and Governor Gavin Newsom has said all teachers will soon need to either be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing.
