Guadalupe Officer Involved Shooting Investigation

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one person dead. The shooting happened Saturday night in Guadalupe at around 9:40. Guadalupe Police officers recognized a person at the intersection of Birch and Obispo Streets as a wanted felon. According to officials, one of the officers fired at the suspect but struck an uninvolved resident who was sitting in his vehicle. 59-year-old Juan Luis Olvera-Preciado of Guadalupe was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is also being investigated by the Santa Maria P.D. and the Attorney General’s Office.
