A highway widening project in northern San Luis Obispo County is about to get underway. CalTrans says it will be widening a five mile stretch of Highway 46 East, between Shandon and Cholame. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow and the project should be completed sometime in 2024. Funding for the more than 115 million dollar project comes from State Transportation Improvement Fund.
