A Santa Maria man wanted by authorities was arrested yesterday morning. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office says detectives attempted to make contact with 46-year-old Adam Valdez regarding an outstanding warrant. Valdez attempted to flee while pulling a firearm from his waistband. He fired a single shot. Detectives took Valdez into custody without returning fire. No one was injured. Valdez was booked for two felonies in addition to a multitude of drug and weapons warrants.
