Dozens of Santa Ynez Valley Union High School students staged a walkout yesterday. The demonstrators accuse school administrators of being exclusive toward the LGBTQ+ community. About three weeks ago students were given permission to have school crosswalks painted rainbow colors as part of “No Place for Hate Week.” Just three days later the crosswalks were repainted white with no explanation. The students want to know why and are also calling for mandatory inclusivity training for all Santa Ynez Valley Union High School staff.
