Cal Fire officials say firefighters have the Shell Fire about 70 percent contained. The Shell Fire first broke out on Sunday east of Santa Margarita. Quick work by fire crews has held the fire at about 100 acres. Officials are cautiously optimistic about their progress. Their main concern is the Shell Fire is in a hilly area close to the Los Padres National Forest. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
