A Santa Maria woman convicted of murdering her roommate in 2018 has been sentenced. in December 2018, Kimberly Machleit and her boyfriend got into an altercation with Joseph Govey in their apartment. Machleit shot Govey with a shotgun. Govey’s body would be found years later in a water hazard at Blacklake Golf Course in Nipomo. Machleit was sentenced to 10 years plus 25 years to life in state prison.
