A Santa Maria man is headed to prison for his involvement in a deadly 2021 hit-and-run accident. In January, a jury found 27-year-old Earnesto Herrera guilty on all charges including, second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and hit and run causing death. Two people were seriously injured and a 14-year-old died. Herrera was sentenced to 6 years 8 months plus 15 years to life for the murder and DUI charges.
