The Lucia Mar Unified Teachers Association is outraged after a teacher was arrested on suspicion of child abuse. 42-year-old Sarah Watts is accused of pulling a 13-year-old student’s hairbrush from her hand and throwing papers at her and the other pupils, injuring the girl. According to the Tribune, the teacher’s union called her arrest “egregious.” The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office says “The teacher’s actions caused injuries to the student’s hand and near her eye that were clearly visible, adding that they were required to take action. School district officials say an investigation is ongoing.
